The following piece from lifehappens.org is a reminder of a little understood reality, which is a non-permanent disability is more common than most people realize. Your ability to earn a living is the beginning of any financial plan, which means the ability to earn income is your most valuable asset.
Ask yourself how will you pay your rent/mortgage, car loan, student loan and any other normal expenses if you are unable to earn a living? Purchasing disability insurance assures you will have some income if you suffer a disabling injury or illness.
Which is more likely to happen? Winning the lottery or suffering an illness/injury that will keep you out of work.
A mother’s love is the most fundamental of universal concepts. We all have mothers and while our mothers are different the sense of mother is universal. Caring nurturing and protective are words that come to mind. So if you are a mother or act like one to someone, this day is for you.
I want to thank everyone who supported me in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. I raised $795. I had 12 donors. All proceeds went to Serene Harbor, Inc. a women’s shelter.
Fifty two men walked a mile in red high heels, to raise awareness about gender assault and domestic violence. Collectively over $16,000 was donated to the walkers. With matching donations I estimate $30,000 was raised just for the walk.
All in all we got the word out, raised awareness and some money and good time was had by all.
The walk begins.
Thank you to all who helped.
Today’s the day. Come out and support the What a Girl Wants event featuring the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. This is a fun to bring awareness to the serious problem of domestic violence. We are at the Melbourne Auditorium 625 E Hibiscus Blvd, Melbourne, FL 32901.
And you can still make a donation.
I am supporting the International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence by walking a mile in her shoes on April 30th at the Melbourne (FL) Auditorium. It is being held along with the What a Girl Wants expo. The proceeds from these events will go to Serene Harbor, Inc. a local domestic violence center. Go to http://www.sereneharbor.org/walk-a-mile-in-her-shoes/ scroll to my name, Bruce Kuczinski, and click the donate button. Your donations are tax-deductible.
So here’s my pitch.
Rape sexual assault and gender violence will not go away without shining a light on it. We can’t look the other way when we see signs of abuse. We have to speak up.
I don’t want to over simplify this but:
Men you’re not showing your manliness by beating up on your woman. Your not doing it because you love her so much, you’re doing it because you have a problem with you. Get help.
Ladies, anger and violent jealousy is not a sign of love it is a sign of possessiveness. It is neither healthy nor normal. You are not a possession. Get help.
There are so many misunderstandings about life insurance. Cash value policies, which is what I promote, can help you throughout your life, while still leaving a benefit for your family. There is no other financial instrument that can do this.
Retirement funding, college funding, home purchases, vacation homes, cars, boats, home improvements are normal life expenses. Most people borrow from a bank and never get to use those interest dollars again. Cash value life insurance policies properly designed gives you use, liquidity and control of an asset, in a tax advantaged way.
